Fr. Blazek (Readings and Homily September 13th, 2012)
In today’s first reading from the first book of Corinthians, Saint Paul talks to those who have concerns regarding food offered to idols, stating that there is only one God and one Lord; yet, we should be careful about sending mixed messages with our actions, for the sake of those who are weaker. During the homily, Father Blazek asks us whether we give such mixed messages, for example, by praising a secular wedding we have attended, or forsaking Mass on Sunday to attend a baby or bridal “shower.” In the Gospel Message, Our Lord tells us to “turn the other cheek,” “forgive others” and “not judge.” Father Blazek comments on how to apply these instructions in our own lives.
