On Easter Morning
On Easter morning, I rejoice because Christ is risen, but it saddens me that most people do not really believe in Him.
On Easter morning, I’m glad that Lent is over but it saddens me that most people did not use those 40 days to come closer to God.
On Easter morning, I’m glad that our Church was full, but I’m sad that most people in our city did not attend a Church service.
On Easter morning, I’m glad that our priest spoke of the joy of Christ’s resurrection, but I’m sad that he downplayed the importance of penance, confession and sorrow for our sins.
On Easter morning, I’m glad that Good Friday is still a holiday throughout our land, but I’m sad that many “Catholics” celebrated by having drunken hot tub parties or Easter egg hunts complete with hot dogs.
On Easter morning, I’m glad that our church was so crowded, but I’m sad that it will go back to being half full next week.
On Easter morning, I’m glad that General Absolution has been banned, but I’m sad that most Catholics did not go to confession during Lent.
On Easter morning, I’m glad that “born-again” Protestants also celebrate the Resurrection, but I’m sad that they don’t seem to understand the importance of Lent and Good Friday.
On Easter morning, I pray once again that God will have mercy on this godless generation, and I pray that He will give strength and hope to those who earnestly strive to do His will.
